Review For Movie Delhi Safari
A painless, if only mildly inventive, animated comedy.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times

It shamelessly rips off much better animated movies. What kind of lesson is that for our young people?
Neil Genzlinger-New York Times

The film is without wit and, sadly, entirely forgettable.
Miriam Bale-New York Daily News

Blandly unremarkable.
Joe Leydon-Variety

Although its message is never subtle, Delhi Safari is fun enough to earn the right to preach.
Sherilyn Connelly-Village Voice

Out-of-date animation throws up a roadblock for this Indian animated 3D family film.
Lisa Tsering-Hollywood Reporter

The "Save the Environment" and "Share the World" themes of "Delhi Safari" will keep the adults involved in this nice story that is chock full of snappy, nature-friendly songs that will delight the kids.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Bollywood numbers can't save derivative wild-animal tale.
Sandie Angulo Chen-Common Sense Media

Going to the zoo, watching Animal Planet or reading National Geographic will be more enlightening than this. (Full Content Review for Parents also available)
Jim Judy-Screen It!

...U.S. audiences, at least, are bound to find the animation here subpar for a theatrical release.
Laura Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Although set in India, the Bollywood-backed cartoon Delhi Safari speaks the universal language of middling kiddie entertainment.
Ethan Alter-Film Journal International

A much better way to strike home the same green message, while also having more fun, would be to just skip this movie and take your kids to a national park.

Mpaa Rating : PG
Plot Story : Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis). Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes. The story wasn't new in 1986, but Top Gun scored with audiences on the strength of its visuals, especially the vertigo-inducing aerial sequences. The film made more money than any other film in 1986 and even spawned a 1989 takeoff, Hot Shots. An Academy Award went to the Giogio Moroder-Tom Whitlock song "Take My Breath Away." ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Review For Movie Top Gun
There are elements that hold up - especially Cruise's blinding charisma. The aerial scenes are still thrilling, and perfectly suited to a giant screen. Everything else? Well, that depends on how nostalgic you're feeling.
Elizabeth Weitzman-New York Daily News

The aerial sequences in Top Gun are as thrilling -- while remaining coherent -- as any ever put on film.
Gene Siskel-Chicago Tribune

Whether you love Top Gun or hate it -- or hate yourself for loving it -- the fact is that when it became the top-grossing film of 1986, Hollywood in its infinite wisdom took all of the worst lessons from its success and overlooked what made it so... fun.
Chris Nashawaty-Entertainment Weekly

Top Gun is about the training of the Navy's best fighter pilots and their blooding in cold war incidents, and the only thing Director Tony Scott has not brought up to date is the story.
-TIME Magazine

Every moment is hyped for maximum visual and visceral impact, but Scott doesn't display the slightest bit of interest (or belief) in the actual characters and situations.
Dave Kehr-Chicago Reader

Set in the world of naval fighter pilots, pic has strong visuals and pretty young people in stylish clothes and a non-stop soundtrack.
Variety Staff-Variety

The unashamedly goofy 1986 dogfighting classic flips on the afterburners to make yet another pass on Blu-ray, this time soaring into the third dimension.
Phil Villarreal-OK! Magazine

It's still the same old Top Gun, retaining every frame of ridiculousness and emphatic acting that turned the Don Simpson/Jerry Bruckheimer production into a legend.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

The 3D is impressive considering it wasn't shot for that, and the sound delivers full throttle engine roars and the legendary soundtrack sounds as crisp as ever.
Mark Ellis-Schmoes Know

If you missed it in theaters the first time, it's probably going to be the best movie theater experience you'll have so far this year.
Kristian Harloff-Schmoes Know

An undeniably cheesy yet strangely appealing time capsule, with a little something for everyone provided we understand that it's all bubblegum.
Rob Vaux-Mania.com

Watching Top Gun again twenty five years after its release is still a dazzling and dizzying experience. You are not so much on the edge of your seat as flung around it as the on-screen action endlessly spins and soars.
Brian Henry Martin-UTV

Basically perfect, even it is perfect at one of the worst sorts of things a movie can attempt.
Tim Brayton-Antagony & Ecstasy

Among the first generation of films influenced by the cutting techniques of music videos, a progression of oversaturated, meaty images, embarrassing dialogue and awful music.
Burl Burlingame-Honolulu Star-Advertiser

This paean to hotshot Navy fighter pilots and high technology attracted mass audiences despite its familiar plot and characters so vapid they vanish from memory as soon as the house lights come up.
-TV Guide's Movie Guide

Tom Cruise classic still revs engines.
Heather Boerner-Common Sense Media

Watchable but rarely enthralling...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

Like many films from its decade, Top Gun is steeped in 80s culture %u2013 from the top 40 music to the clothing styles.
Kevin Carr-7M Pictures

(Its success) supports the pop-psych analysis that pre-actualized teenage boys are the most homosexual beings in existence.

A movie for adolescents, and adults who willfully decide not to know better for a couple of hours. [Blu-Ray]

Review For Movie 16 Acres
A fascinating portrait of municipal and private interests trying to make headway in the charged atmosphere of devastating personal loss and wounded national pride.
Sheri Linden-Los Angeles Times

This alternately amusing and heartbreaking documentary coherently chronicles the endles process of rebuilding Ground Zero.
Frank Scheck-Hollywood Reporter

A documentary that features forthright interviews with major players and gives a good sense of the infighting and pettiness without getting bogged down in it.
Neil Genzlinger-New York Times

This interesting but undeniably bottom-line-minded chronicle of the rebuilding at Ground Zero provides a unique look at civic strife and a city's spirit.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

An uncommonly engrossing and articulate documentary.
John Anderson-Variety

Hankin's film finally makes the indigenous variety of deadlock particular to New York politicos seem as quaintly comforting as a buttered bialy.
Nick Pinkerton-Village Voice

A vital and in certain ways even cathartic documentary. It's a story about ego and hubris, yes, but also the better angels of our nature.

Review For Movie Bless Me, Ultima
Aassured, sensitive, and commendably unpretentious.
Ben Sachs-Chicago Reader

The lyrical book is filled with touches of magical realism. On the other hand, the movie is sorely lacking in both magic and realism. It's all very empty and blah.
Randy Cordova-Arizona Republic

An offbeat slice of Americana will intrigue thoughtful moviegoers.
Stephen Farber-Hollywood Reporter

Theater firebrand and big-screen presence Miriam Colon portrays Ultima with a minimum of fuss and a gorgeous supply of elder authority.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

Writer-director Carl Franklin offers up a tone of heightened reverence that weighs down the material, but there are small, lovely moments when the magic realism approaches the magical.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

A deeply satisfying feat of storytelling, "Bless Me, Ultima" makes a difficult task look easy.
Kenneth Turan-Los Angeles Times

A thoughtful, sentimental fable.
Eric D. Snider-About.com

... bogged down by its deliberate pace, reliance on Catholic symbolism, and its one-dimensional characters.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

[Director Carl] Franklin is sensitive to the way boys interact, bump chests, bicker, and bond-just as he is to how adults justify their hypocrisy and excuse their failures.
Sean Axmaker-Seattle Weekly

Erring only slightly on the Hallmark side.
Kelly Vance-East Bay Express

The low-level magical realism never gels with the coming-of-age drama.
Jamie S. Rich-Oregonian

It knows exactly what kind of film it is -- unfortunately, what kind of film it is, is an unimaginatively directed coming-of-age tale with hardly any narrative momentum.
Mike Scott-Times-Picayune

a profound story told in a deceptively simple way. Deceptive, but curiously suitable for a film about identity, belief, and the nature both good and evil in all their guises.
Andrea Chase-Killer Movie Reviews

Based on the novel of the same name by Rudolfo Anaya, "Bless Me, Ultima" is a magical compilation of family, life, death, religion and the meaning of it all.
Jeanne Kaplan-Kaplan vs. Kaplan

"Bless Me, Ultima" is a beautifully photographed film, but it has a lot of problems...sketchy character development, but the bigger issue is the film's disjointed flow.
David Kaplan-Kaplan vs. Kaplan

The choice to include a ponderous narration violates that basic rule of storytelling: Show rather than tell.
John Wirt-Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA)

Bless Me, Ultima creates a wholly original coming of age story by blending mysticism with conventional Catholicism.
Christian Toto-Big Hollywood

Although Bless Me, Ultima can feel a bit overstuffed, it's an honest and naturalistic kids' story about growing up Mexican-American.

Desperate to reunite with his best friend and to set things right, Dolph embarks on a journey which spirals into the realm of the absurd. On his quest, he drastically alters the lives of several severely bizarro characters, including a promiscuous pizza delivery girl (Entourage's Alexis Dziena), a mentally unstable, jogging-addicted neighbor, an opportunistic French-Mexican gardener, an eccentric pet detective (Steve Little of HBO's Eastbound And Down) and most mysterious of all, an enigmatic pony-tailed guru, Master Chang (William Fichtner) who imparts his teachings to Dolph on how to metaphysically reconnect with his pet. From fearless cinematic surrealist Quentin Dupieux, the director behind the head-exploding Rubber, Wrong is a wholly original and hilariously hallucinatory universe all its own. (c) Drafthouse

Review For Movie Wrong
There's a winning confidence to the filmmaking, which is deceptively stylish - Dupieux favours nervy close-ups and blurred foregrounds - and some real soul in Plotnick's performance.
Adam Nayman-Globe and Mail

Dupieux makes the viewer work for it with Wrong. And it's not always worth the effort ...
Linda Barnard-Toronto Star

Dupieux has to be applauded for creating a unique universe, but sometimes he seems stuck in it - to the point where we feel we're not always in on the joke.
David Lewis-San Francisco Chronicle

In Wrong, reality and the world of the film will regularly upend themselves; it's never quite reliably clear, though, that these inexplicable events are happening for a purpose.
Joel Arnold-NPR

Dupieux doesn't make films for everyone, but he does craft creative and abstract trips that are more than worth going on, even if they're fantastically difficult to explain to anyone who has yet to join the club.
Kate Erbland-MSN Movies

Dupieux's absurdism is simply muddled, masking the fact he doesn't really have much to say.
Mark Olsen-Los Angeles Times

The whole film feels a bit like a dream after a late-night burrito, leaving you wondering if moments in the film actually happened, particularly when mulling over it the next day.
Kimber Myers-The Playlist

Apart from arousing fitful curiosity, this stretch of surrealism yawns into an arid expanse of flat quirkiness. Meanders between torquing noir clichés and drifting through a funhouse-mirror-maze of SoCal conventions. Little strange poetry emerges.
Brian Gibson-Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Canada)

Wrong wears out its welcome even at 94 minutes.
Violet Lucca-Film Comment Magazine

A work of much playfulness and imagination, Wrong hints at a broader promise of budding, starburst auteurism upon which the film as a whole -- a nice, silly riff that could work better in truncated form -- doesn't fully deliver.
Brent Simon-Shockya.com

Quentin Dupieux's brand of absurdism lands somewhere between the plays of Eugène Ionesco, the looniest sketches of Monty Python, and the most adventurous efforts of the Adult Swim brigade.
Jason Anderson-The Grid

This isn't a long film, but it lacks propulsion at times. Luckily, it maintains its wry outlook and never quite erases the good will that its best moments inspire.
Jeremy Mathews-Paste Magazine

For all its dominant paradigm subverting, "Wrong" never feels dangerous or truly challenging, content generally to amuse rather than amaze.
Marc Mohan-Oregonian

I'll happily jump aboard the "Why Not" train that Quentin Dupieux so emphatically conducts yet again for Wrong, another delightfully absurd film that so many viewers will wrongfully, but understandably, hate.
Matt Donato-We Got This Covered

... crafts some amusing exchanges and trippy images even if the whole thing never adds up to much in the end.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

With all of its robe mocking, its pet kidnapping service, its squeaky turkey dog toys, and most of all its turd memories, Wrong is one of the most unique films you'll ever sit through.
Chris Sawin-Examiner.com

Have you ever been stuck at a party talking to a guy who thinks he's a comic genius?
Leah Churner-Austin Chronicle

There's off-kilter style to spare: empty frames, heightened sterile imagery and mannered performances. But there's nothing below the surface that we haven't seen before.

Review For Movie Star Trek Into Darkness
Most of the logic has leached away from this movie, and with it half of the fun.
Anthony Lane-New Yorker

Happily, there's a good deal of fun if you like things crashing violently into each other and out of warp-drive at regular intervals.
Bob Mondello-NPR

For all its chasing and falling and fighting-and the movie supplies a great deal of each-Star Trek Into Darkness is at its best when the Enterprise crew are merely bickering and bantering among themselves: less space opera than soap opera.
Christopher Orr-The Atlantic

The conceptual sci-fi of the original series is nowhere to be found, though you might enjoy watching the skinny young actors approximate their counterparts from the 60s; Chris Pine is especially good as Captain Kirk.
J. R. Jones-Chicago Reader

While the action is often electric, it's the relationships that matter. That, and a lippy regard for a cultural legacy.
John Anderson-Wall Street Journal

The film is, for whatever else it might be, one of the funniest of the Star Trek entries.
Mick LaSalle-Hearst Newspapers

It's generally a lot of fun, but it's exhausting, and the busyness only somewhat disguises the fact that the story doesn't entirely make sense.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com

Suggests someone painting by numbers with Herculian intensity, and the effect is hollow and dispassionate.
Rob Humanick-Projection Booth

Not as audacious or exciting as its predecessor but this sequel is still a fun summer ride.
John Hanlon-John Hanlon Reviews

...a terminally perfunctory followup that just barely gets the job done...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

Far from going where no one has gone before, this Star Trek is only interested in retreating along its old tracks.
Joshua Starnes-ComingSoon.net

Either reinvent or stick to the source material, don't try to have your fun both ways. It doesn't work.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

... a summer film that dimly reminds viewers of what it used to be - and could be again - while still being little more than a rollercoaster ride.
Kevin A. Ranson-MovieCrypt.com

There's really very little to complain about in this warp-speed sequel.
Martin Roberts-Fan The Fire

so enjoyable that it becomes easy to forget that virtually everything in the film is a riff or spin on something we (including only casual Star Trek fans) have already seen
James Kendrick-Q Network Film Desk

Thrilling if not exactly groundbreaking fun...yet something is missing this time around.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

Moment to moment, it's as entertaining, rousing and visually impressive as any recent science-fiction action epic, but the script is cratered with illogical motivations and plot holes large enough to swallow Classic Trek's Doomsday Machine.
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

Even old-school Trekkers will enjoy this voyage.
Linda Cook-Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)

J.J. Abrams' sequel is smart, fun, witty, essential sci-fi.
John Serba-MLive.com

It feels a little "been there, done that" but it still entertains.
Jackie K. Cooper-jackiekcooper.com

'Star Trek' safely does its job and is easily the first must-see action flick of the year.
Clay Cane-BET.com

Maintaining its reverence for the source material while employing an exuberant and clever script with one heck of a plot twist, Star Trek: Into Darkness is great fun and a more than worthy successor to the excellent first film.
Diva Velez-TheDivaReview.com

Set phasers for fun with this blockbuster.
Michael Smith-Tulsa World

Sets its phasers on fun
Robert Denerstein-Movie Habit

One of the attributes this sequel to the prequel has going for it is a villain whose threat to mankind requires no prosthetics and/or makeup to freeze you in your seat.
Jules Brenner-Cinema Signals

Very well-made and exciting. Kirk's/Pine's bromance with Spock/out actor Zachary Quinto is further and nicely developed here, and the film's 3D effects are truly special.
